Practical Rubber Pre-Treatment Approch for Concrete Use—An Experimental Study

There is a lot of ongoing active research all over the world looking for various applications used tyre rubber, to increase its utilisation rate. One common incorporate rubber into concrete as partial replacement conventional aggregates. However, due poor bonding performance with cement paste, in has been hindered date. A cost-effective and time-saving pre-treatment method great interest, especially industry. Out methods, soaking particles water most least complex method. In addition, sodium sulphate accelerates hydration reaction composites. This study looks at effect crumb tap short (2 h) long (24 durations, optimised duration was then compared 5% concentration solution. Compressive strength, bond behaviour, rubber/cement interfacial transition zone (ITZ) were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. The results demonstrate that 2 h provides much better both strength properties 24-h soaking. further improvement 7-day achieved soaked solution h, providing more practical economical industry use.
